MyMM2H

Comparing the MM2H categories

The four categories differ on four axes: the deposit, the participation fee, the minimum property and the pass length. Only one of them differs on rights, and that is the comparison most applicants actually need.

What does the extra capital buy? Gold costs USD350,000 more in deposit than Silver and RM400,000 more in property. It buys ten more years on the pass and nothing else: neither category permits work. What does the right to earn cost? Platinum is the only MM2H category permitting employment or business. The step up from Gold is USD500,000 more deposit and an RM200,000 participation fee against RM3,000.

Against a different programme

MM2H Platinum against PVIP. PVIP is run by the Immigration Department rather than the tourism ministry, asks for RM40,000 a month in income, and requires no property purchase at all. It is the real alternative for someone who wants to work in Malaysia and does not want to buy a house.

Comparisons that live elsewhere

MM2H against permanent residency is answered in full at MM2H and permanent residency are not the same thing. It is one node, so it gets one page rather than a second competing for the same query.

MM2H against the state programmes is a comparison of different authorities rather than different categories: see Sarawak S-MM2H and Sabah MM2H, each of which sets its own eligibility, financial proof and stay requirement.

All four categories side by side on the categories page, or the 242 licensed companies permitted to lodge an application.
